Product Description
Original WWII-period Austrian/German 8×56mmR Mannlicher ammunition display set comprising five inert cartridges held in an original five-round Mannlicher M95 en-bloc clip.
The 8×56mmR cartridge was introduced for the modernised Mannlicher M95 straight-pull rifle and carbine, replacing the earlier 8×50mmR loading. The distinctive Mannlicher en-bloc system was inserted complete into the rifle's magazine, with the empty clip dropping through the bottom of the action after the final cartridge was chambered.
Of particular interest is the period German eagle marking visible on the cartridge headstamp, associated with Austrian ammunition production following the German annexation of Austria in 1938. The steel clip also carries an eagle manufacturer's/inspection marking.
The five cartridges have brass cases with distinctive silver-coloured pointed projectiles and display very well in the original blackened steel clip. The clip retains a good amount of its original dark finish with expected age-related wear and light surface marking.
An excellent complete display piece for the collector of Mannlicher rifles, Austrian military ammunition, WWII ammunition or military cartridge clips.
