Collection: German 1000 Reichsbanknote

The 1000 Reichsbanknote was a banknote issued by the German government during the early 20th century, specifically between 1908 and 1922. The note had a face value of 1000.

The 1000 Reichsbanknote was initially introduced to help fund the German government's military expenditures during World War I. However, the government printed so many notes that the value of the Reichsmark began to plummet, leading to hyperinflation in Germany in the early 1920s.

The hyperinflation was so severe that the 1000 Reichsbanknote, which was once worth a significant amount of money, became nearly worthless. The German government eventually introduced a new currency, the Rentenmark, in 1923, in an attempt to stabilize the economy and restore confidence in the German currency.
