Product Description

The World War II Defence Medal was awarded to British and Commonwealth forces for non-operational service in the UK or abroad, including the Home Guard and civil defense services, from 1939 to 1945. It features King George VI on the obverse and a crowned oak tree flanked by lions on the reverse, symbolizing resilience and defense.

The WW2 British War Medals, including the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945, are significant recognitions of service during the conflict.

The Defence Medal was awarded to military and certain civilian personnel for non-operational service in the UK and overseas from 1939 to 1945. The medal's obverse features King George VI, while the reverse shows a crowned oak tree flanked by two lions, symbolizing resilience and defense. Its ribbon, with green, black, and orange stripes, represents the British landscape, blackout, and enemy attacks.

The War Medal 1939-1945 was given to all full-time military personnel who served at least 28 days during the war. King George VI is depicted on the obverse, and the reverse displays a lion triumphing over a dragon, signifying victory over the Axis powers.
