Product Description

The "Carreras Ltd Cigarette Cards: Britain's Defences" series was a fascinating collectible set produced by the Carreras Tobacco Company during the mid-20th century. This series featured striking illustrations of the military forces and defensive infrastructure that protected Britain during key historical periods, particularly during the buildup to and during World War II. Each card highlighted an element of the nation's defense, such as army regiments, naval ships, aircraft, anti-aircraft batteries, and other critical military assets.

Issued around the late 1930s and early 1940s, the cards were part of cigarette packs and were designed to both educate the public and boost morale by showcasing Britain's preparedness and technological prowess in the face of potential invasion or threats. The cards included detailed information on the back, describing the capabilities, history, and significance of the depicted military unit or defense system.

This collection captured the spirit of the era, as Britain was keen to emphasize its military strength and resilience. Today, these cards are highly valued by collectors and historians for their historical significance and the insight they provide into Britain's wartime strategy and defensive measures during one of the most turbulent times in modern history.
