Product Description
This Negretti & Zambra Pocket Forecaster, likely dating from the 1920s, is a charming and rare early weather prediction device, compactly housed in its original box with instructions. Crafted from celluloid or ivorine, it features concentric dials calibrated with the Zambretti algorithm—an ingeniously simple yet accurate formula combining barometric pressure and wind direction for short-range forecasts. Its compact, portable design reflects the golden age of scientific instruments.
The dials are crisp and fully legible, and the box shows minimal wear—indicative of careful preservation. This pocket forecaster is an excellent example of early meteorological innovation by Negretti & Zambra, London—makers to Victorian royalty and the British Admiralty
