Product Description

This is an exceptional and complete example of the Royal Air Force Emergency Flying Rations Mark VIII, marked 27P P.D/74, issued to RAF aircrew during the later years of World War II and into the early Cold War period. These compact tins were designed to provide high-energy food and essential items to downed airmen awaiting rescue.

This original survival tin remains fully intact with its sealed contents and clear external markings. The sturdy metal box contains concentrated food items such as chocolate, glucose tablets, boiled sweets, and chewing gum—designed to sustain energy and morale in emergency situations. Some versions also included matches, water purifying tablets, and basic medical supplies.

The Mark VIII rations were a vital part of the aircrew’s survival kit, carried on missions over enemy territory and the open sea. This particular example, clearly marked 27P P.D/74, is rare in complete, unopened condition, making it highly desirable for serious collectors of WW2 or Cold War military memorabilia.

Perfect for display in a military collection, museum exhibit, or historical reenactment setup, this ration tin offers a tangible link to the personal survival tools of the RAF.
