Product Description
An original inert German 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge bearing the asd St 12 1944 headstamp. This is a genuine Second World War military cartridge manufactured for the Wehrmacht during 1944, a period when Germany's ammunition industry was operating at maximum capacity.
The asd manufacturer code identifies Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken A.G. (DWM), Berlin-Borsigwalde, one of Germany's oldest and most important military ammunition manufacturers. DWM was responsible for producing vast quantities of 9mm Parabellum ammunition throughout the war. During 1944, DWM continued using the asd code until approximately Lot 34, after which production changed to the rfo code for later 1944 and 1945 manufacture.
Headstamp Breakdown
- asd – Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken A.G. (DWM), Berlin-Borsigwalde
- St – Steel cartridge case
- 12 – Production Lot 12
- 1944 – Year of manufacture
The St marking denotes a steel cartridge case, adopted to conserve brass during wartime. By 1944, steel-cased 9mm ammunition had become standard for most German military production. German military headstamps identify the manufacturer, case material, production lot and year of manufacture.
This cartridge would have been issued for use in many of Germany's standard 9mm service weapons, including:
- P08 Luger
