Product Description
An original inert 7.62×54R Russian cartridge manufactured by Kynoch and dated 1917. This is a genuine First World War British export contract round produced for Imperial Russia during the Allied war effort.
As Russia struggled to meet the enormous demand for small arms ammunition during the First World War, Britain placed contracts with major manufacturers, including Kynoch of Birmingham, to produce 7.62×54R ammunition for the Russian Mosin–Nagant Model 1891 rifle. These British-made cartridges formed part of the vast quantities of ammunition supplied to Russia before the Russian Revolution of 1917.
This example features the desirable 1917 date, making it a tangible piece of wartime history from one of Britain's best-known ammunition manufacturers. Original Kynoch-produced 7.62×54R export cartridges are increasingly sought after by collectors of British contract ammunition, Imperial Russian militaria and Mosin–Nagant memorabilia. Examples of Kynoch 7.62×54R export ammunition supplied to Russia are well documented by cartridge collectors.
