Product Description

Original inert U.S. .30-40 Krag (30 U.S. Army) cartridge manufactured at Frankford Arsenal in April 1898.

Bearing the headstamp F 4 98, this cartridge was produced during the year of the Spanish-American War and would have been intended for use in the U.S. Army's Krag–Jørgensen service rifle and carbine.

The .30-40 Krag was America's first smokeless powder military cartridge and represented a major advancement over earlier black powder service ammunition. It served as the standard U.S. military rifle cartridge from 1892 until its replacement by the .30-03 and later .30-06.

A desirable and historic cartridge from the period of U.S. expansion and the Spanish-American War.
