Product Description
This original inert Kynoch .295/.300 Rook round is a rare and elegant example of small-bore sporting ammunition from Britain’s late Victorian–Edwardian era. Manufactured by Kynoch, a name synonymous with high-quality British ammunition, the .295/.300 Rook cartridge was produced for rook rifles and small-game shooting — popular for target practice and vermin control in period country sports.
The cartridge has been professionally rendered inert to accepted safety standards: the primer is deactivated and there is no propellant or live components present. It retains the authentic brass case, projectile, and clear headstamp details associated with Kynoch manufacture, along with the age-appropriate patina collectors prize. The modest size and delicate silhouette of the rook round make it a particularly attractive addition to cabinets of small-calibre ammunition or sporting antiques.
Collectors, curators, and historians will value this piece for its direct link to an era when bespoke British gunmakers and ammunition firms supplied specialised rounds for country shooting and practice. It is especially useful as a display item, photographic reference, or for educational exhibits explaining the development of small-bore cartridges and rural shooting customs.
