Product Description
Original inert Italian 10.4×47R Vetterli rifle cartridge with S.L. E 92 headstamp, dating from 1892.
This cartridge was produced for the Italian Vetterli service rifle, one of the principal military rifles of the late nineteenth century. The round features the correct brass case and round-nosed bullet typical of the black powder era military loading.
The headstamp S.L. E 92 is associated with Italian military production from the period, with the 92 indicating manufacture in 1892. These cartridges were used in the various Vetterli rifle and Vetterli-Vitali magazine rifle conversions that equipped the Italian Army before the widespread adoption of the Carcano rifle. Contemporary Italian Vetterli ammunition from this period is becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly as complete, unfired inert examples.
An excellent collector's item for enthusiasts of Italian military firearms, nineteenth-century ammunition and pre-Carcano military history.
