Product Description
An original inert German 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge bearing the P25 S 14 1936 headstamp. This is a genuine pre-Second World War military cartridge manufactured during Germany's rapid rearmament programme.
The P25 manufacturer code identifies Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen GmbH, Werk Sebaldushof, one of Germany's principal ammunition manufacturers before and during the Second World War. Prior to 1940, German military ammunition factories used P-codes to conceal the identity of the manufacturer.
The headstamp markings identify:
- P25 – Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen GmbH, Werk Sebaldushof
- S – Brass cartridge case manufactured from the standard 67% copper brass alloy
- 14 – Production Lot 14
- 1936 – Year of manufacture
Manufactured in 1936, this cartridge dates from the early expansion of the Wehrmacht before the outbreak of the Second World War. It would have been issued for use in the Karabiner 98k, Gewehr 98, and German machine guns chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. The S case marking identifies an early brass-cased cartridge before Germany increasingly adopted steel cases during the war.
An excellent original example of pre-war German military ammunition and a desirable addition to any collection of Wehrmacht memorabilia, Mauser rifles or military headstamps.
