Product Description

Original Eccles Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd Type 6 M & Q safety lamp with Ministry of Power Approval No. B/28 markings. These iconic British mining lamps were manufactured for underground coal mining operations and formed an essential part of colliery safety equipment during the mid-20th century.

Produced by the respected Eccles Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd, the Type 6 lamp was specifically designed for use in hazardous mining environments where explosive gases and poor underground conditions posed constant risks to miners. The official Ministry of Power approval marking confirms its certified use within British mines and industrial operations.

The M & Q designation is commonly associated with mining and quarrying applications, making these lamps highly desirable to collectors of British mining memorabilia, industrial history and colliery artefacts. Their distinctive construction, rugged engineering and strong connection to Britain’s coal industry make them excellent display pieces for collections, museums, man caves or industrial interiors.

Features include:

  • Original Eccles Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd manufacture
  • Type 6 M & Q approved mining safety lamp
  • Ministry of Power Approval No. B/28
  • Authentic British colliery and mining equipment
  • Collectible industrial and occupational heritage item
  • Superb display or restoration piece

A genuine piece of British mining history connected to the golden age of the UK coal industry and underground safety engineering.
