Product Description
An impressive and highly collectible original British quick-firing artillery shell case, believed to be for the famous QF 3-Pounder Hotchkiss 47mm naval gun, manufactured by BSA&M Co (Birmingham Small Arms & Metals Company). These iconic brass cartridge cases were widely used by the Royal Navy, coastal defence batteries, merchant armed vessels, and military forces from the late Victorian period through the First World War.
This example features a striking polished brass finish with visible original headstamp markings to the base, including the desirable BSA&M Co maker’s mark, adding strong historical appeal for collectors of British militaria, naval antiques, and ordnance items.
The 3-pounder Hotchkiss gun was one of the most recognisable quick-firing guns of its era, used aboard warships and defended positions across the British Empire. Surviving marked brass cases such as this make excellent display pieces and are increasingly sought after for home bars, offices, museums, and military collections.
A substantial and decorative item with excellent presence, ideal for collectors of naval history, artillery memorabilia, and original British ammunition relics.
Ideal for collectors of British Army militaria, training aids, machine gun accessories, or ammunition displays, this is a practical and visually impressive collector piece. A scarce ready-made set that looks superb in a display cabinet, office, or military room collection.
