The 1944 Pattern Small Pack was an essential component of the British Army's late-war web equipment system, designed to carry a soldier's personal items, rations, spare clothing and field equipment. Introduced towards the end of the Second World War, the 1944 Pattern webbing represented a significant development over the earlier 1937 Pattern equipment, offering improved functionality and ease of manufacture.
Constructed from robust khaki webbing with brass fittings, this pack remains in excellent condition with strong canvas, solid stitching and minimal signs of service use. It is ideal for completing a 1944 Pattern webbing set, display collection or reenactment impression.
The compact yet practical design made it suitable for carrying essential field equipment while maintaining mobility, and it continued to see service with British and Commonwealth forces well into the post-war period.
