Product Description

This Kynoch .318 cartridge case with a 300-grain soft-nose bullet is an interesting and uncommon example of early British sporting ammunition. The .318 calibre, most famously associated with the .318 Westley Richards, was developed in the early 20th century for medium and large game, and became highly regarded for its deep penetration and excellent field performance. While factory Kynoch loadings were typically offered in 180-grain or 250-grain bullet weights, this specimen features a 300-grain soft-nose projectile, suggesting a custom or later hand-loaded round, making it an appealing piece for study and cartridge identification.

The brass case retains the classic Kynoch profile, with a well-formed shoulder and bottleneck, and pairing it with the heavy soft-nose bullet gives the round a distinctive appearance. Though no longer suitable for firing, it serves as a valuable collector’s item or display piece, especially for those interested in British sporting rifles, hand-loaded ammunition, or unusual calibre variations.

This cartridge offers an intriguing look at non-standard loadings and the experimentation common among sportsmen and reloaders of the period. Ideal for ammunition boards, cartridge collections, or historical displays involving early 20th-century British rifles.
