Product Description
Original pre-WWII French 8×50mmR Lebel military cartridge, manufactured at the Ateliers de Fabrication de Toulouse (TE) in 1939, immediately before the outbreak of the Second World War.
The distinctive large-rimmed, heavily tapered 8mm Lebel cartridge was developed for the French Fusil Mle 1886 “Lebel” and subsequently used with other French service weapons including the Berthier family. The cartridge remained an important French military calibre into the Second World War.
The headstamp carries the TE factory code for Toulouse together with the 1939 production date and the characteristic French production markings identifying the manufacturing period and metal supplier.
This example retains an attractive aged brass case and pointed jacketed projectile together with a clearly visible coloured primer annulus.
A particularly nice 1939-dated French military ammunition collectible, representing ammunition being produced immediately before France entered the Second World War.
