Product Description

Original inert .50 Cal Browning machine gun round featuring an MF 1987 headstamp, manufactured at the famous Footscray Small Arms Ammunition Factory, Melbourne, Australia. Deep research confirms that post-1949 MF headstamps were used by the former MG Footscray factory, redesignated back to MF and continuing production through the Cold War period.

This 1987-dated example represents late Cold War Australian production of the iconic 12.7×99mm NATO (.50 BMG) cartridge used in Browning M2 heavy machine guns. Research into Australian military ammunition production shows Footscray produced .50 BMG ammunition during the 1980s, with dated examples known from 1984–1989 before production ceased.

Australian-made .50 calibre rounds are considerably less common than US or British examples and are increasingly sought after by ammunition and militaria collectors. The impressive size and unmistakable profile of the .50 Browning cartridge make it a superb display piece for collectors of NATO ammunition, Cold War militaria, or heavy machine gun cartridges.

Completely inert and safe for display and collecting purposes only.
