Product Description

An original .444 Marlin inert cartridge featuring the classic R-P headstamp, identifying manufacture by Remington Peters, one of America’s best-known ammunition manufacturers.

Introduced in the 1960s, the .444 Marlin became one of the most powerful lever-action sporting cartridges of its era and is closely associated with iconic Marlin lever-action rifles. Designed primarily for big game hunting, the calibre quickly earned a reputation for delivering heavy stopping power and excellent performance on large game.

The R-P headstamp represents Remington Peters production and adds strong collector appeal, particularly among enthusiasts of classic American sporting ammunition and lever-action rifle history.

This example retains authentic appearance with attractive brass finish and strong display appeal, making it an excellent collectible for enthusiasts of American hunting cartridges, lever-action rifles, or vintage sporting ammunition.

The large straight-walled case and powerful profile give the .444 Marlin excellent visual presence in cartridge displays and collections. Original examples remain increasingly sought after by collectors of classic American sporting calibres.

A superb addition to any inert ammunition collection or firearm-related display.

  1. Date: The "42" on the headstamp signifies the year of manufacture, which in this case is 1942. This date is significant as it places the production of the cartridge case within the context of World War II, a period of intense mobilization and conflict for the United States.

  2. .30-06 Cartridge: The .30-06 cartridge, also known as the .30-06 Springfield, is a rifle cartridge with a long and storied history. It was adopted by the United States military in 1906 and served as the standard-issue cartridge for U.S. military rifles, including the M1903 Springfield and the M1 Garand. The cartridge's designation comes from its caliber (.30 inches) and the year of its adoption (1906).

  3. Military Use: During World War II, the .30-06 cartridge was widely used by U.S. military forces in various theaters of operation. It was used in rifles, light machine guns, and other firearms, proving to be a versatile and effective cartridge for infantry and support units.

  4. Historical Significance: Cartridge cases with headstamps indicating production at the Frankford Arsenal during World War II are of particular historical interest due to their association with the war effort. They represent the industrial capacity and logistical challenges faced by the United States in supplying its armed forces during a time of global conflict.
