Product Description
This original inert .303 British ball round, dated 1951 and manufactured by FNM (Fábrica Nacional de Munições, Portugal), is a notable example of early post-war European ammunition production. The “FNM 51” headstamp clearly identifies its year and origin, representing a period when many nations continued to supply .303 British ammunition for both domestic use and export to Commonwealth and allied countries.
Although many militaries were transitioning to newer calibres after WWII, the .303 British cartridge remained widely used during the early 1950s. Weapons such as the Lee–Enfield No.4, SMLE Mk III*, Bren light machine gun, and Vickers gun continued to serve in training, reserve units, and various global conflicts. FNM-produced ammunition is well regarded for its quality and its role in supporting international demand during this transitional era.
Professionally deactivated to full UK legal standards, this round is completely inert while retaining its original components and appearance. Collectors appreciate FNM-marked .303 rounds for their distinctive European origin, clear headstamps, and relevance to the post-war period
