Product Description
An original inert .303 British cartridge dated 1942, manufactured at the Footscray Ammunition Factory in Victoria, Australia. The “MG 42” headstamp identifies this round as Australian wartime production, supplying Commonwealth forces during the Second World War.
Footscray was one of Australia’s primary ammunition producers, and its output played a key role in supporting Allied operations in the Pacific theatre. As such, Australian-marked .303 rounds offer a slightly different collecting angle compared to standard UK production, making them increasingly sought after by collectors looking to diversify beyond British factory codes.
The .303 British cartridge was the standard service round for Lee-Enfield rifles and was also widely used in Bren and Vickers machine guns. Ammunition dated 1942 represents peak wartime production, adding to its historical significance.
This example is completely inert and safe for display, with no live primer or propellant. It retains its original brass case and bullet, making it an authentic collectible rather than a reproduction.
