Product Description

An original inert .303 British cartridge dated 1942, manufactured at Small Arms Ammunition Factory No.4, Hendon, South Australia. The “MJ 42” headstamp identifies this round as Australian wartime production from one of the Commonwealth’s key ammunition facilities during the Second World War.

This cartridge is loaded to the standard Mark VII specification, the primary British and Commonwealth service round of the war. Featuring the characteristic spitzer (pointed) bullet, Mk VII ammunition was widely used in Lee-Enfield rifles as well as Bren and Vickers machine guns.

Hendon (Factory No.4) played a significant role in supplying ammunition to Allied forces, particularly in the Pacific theatre. The MJ headstamp is less commonly encountered compared to other Australian factory codes, making it an appealing variant for collectors looking to expand beyond standard UK or more common Commonwealth production.

This round is completely inert and safe for display, retaining its original brass case and bullet. A genuine WW2 Commonwealth cartridge with strong historical and collector appeal.
