Product Description

This original French Foreign Legion magazine pouch was designed for use with the MAT-49 submachine gun, the standard French service SMG from the late 1940s through the Cold War period. Issued widely to French Army units and famously used by the French Foreign Legion, the MAT-49 saw extensive service during the Indochina and Algerian conflicts.

Constructed from heavy-duty canvas with reinforced stitching, the pouch was designed to securely carry MAT-49 magazines while allowing rapid access in combat conditions. It typically features flap closures secured by metal press studs or straps, with rear attachment points for belts or webbing. The rugged construction reflects the demands placed on Legion equipment during prolonged overseas operations in harsh climates.

Offered in used condition, this pouch displays honest service wear consistent with military use, enhancing its authenticity and appeal. It is an excellent addition to any French Foreign Legion, post-war French Army, or Cold War small arms collection, and displays well alongside MAT-49 accessories and field gear.
