Product Description
The French Chassepot Bayonet is a military bayonet that was used by French soldiers in the mid-19th century. It was designed to fit the Chassepot rifle, which was the primary infantry weapon of the French Army during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
If you have a Chassepot bayonet with a 22 1/2 inch, single-edged yataghan blade with large fullers, it could also be considered a valuable collectors' item. Yataghan blades were used on many bayonets of the period because of their curved shape, which made them more effective for cutting and thrusting.
