Product Description
Designed for use by British and Commonwealth forces during amphibious operations,
Constructed from robust canvas with integrated buoyant pads, the lifejacket features clearly marked printed instructions and official designation (A.P. 5582) stamped internally. All straps, buckles, and toggles are present and fully functional, with minimal signs of wear. The stitching remains tight and intact throughout, with no tears, fraying, or staining. The fabric retains its original color, showing only light age toning consistent with storage rather than active use.
This particular example is especially notable for retaining what appears to be its original CO₂ inflation bottle, which is charged and primed — an extremely rare feature. The inflation mechanism is complete, including the activation lever and hose assembly. While sold strictly as a collector’s item and not for functional use, its presence makes this an outstanding display piece for any serious collector militaria.
Given its excellent condition and completeness, this A.P. 5582 lifejacket is a museum-grade example — difficult to find in such original, undamaged state with an intact inflation system. It would make a superb addition to any WWII British airborne, commando, related display or reenactment collection. Items of this quality are seldom seen on the market.
