Product Description

Two maps used by Officers on the first day of the Somme 1916 France Sheet 57D S E-Edition 2 - Trench Map France Edition 2 Lens.

A lovely edition of  the 1916 Trench Map 57D SE 28/04/1916 2 months before the Somme

36 Ulster Division Operational Orders state that both maps France sheet 62D NE  and  France Edition 2 Lens Map,  will be carried by all officers for the Somme offensive.During World War I.

Trench maps were produced by the British Army to help soldiers navigate the complex network of trenches, fortifications, and obstacles that characterized the Western Front. These maps were updated regularly to reflect changes in the front line and were printed on linen to make them more durable in the field.
Sheet 57 D S E-Edition 2 B was a trench map of the Somme region of France, which saw some of the deadliest fighting of the war. The map would have been used by British soldiers to plan and execute operations in the area.
