Product Description

The 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge case, also known as the GP11 cartridge, is associated with the Swiss military and is primarily used in the Schmidt-Rubin series of rifles. Here's an overview of its features and characteristics:

  1. Caliber: The 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge has a bullet diameter of 7.62 millimeters (0.30 inches) and a case length of 55 millimeters. It's a rimless, bottlenecked rifle cartridge.

  2. Case Type: The cartridge case is rimless, meaning the base of the cartridge is of the same diameter as the body, aiding in smooth feeding and extraction in firearms with box magazines or other feeding systems.

  3. Case Material: The cases are typically made of brass, chosen for its properties such as malleability, corrosion resistance, and ease of reloading.

  4. Rim: As mentioned, the 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge is rimless, allowing for reliable feeding and extraction in firearms with box magazines.

  5. Shoulder Angle: The cartridge features a moderate shoulder angle, aiding in consistent chambering and extraction in firearms with various action types.

  6. Primer Type: The cases are typically equipped with Boxer primers, which are common in Western-produced ammunition. Boxer primers feature a single flash hole and are conducive to reloading by handloaders due to their design.

  7. Usage: The 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge case is primarily used in the Schmidt-Rubin series of rifles, including the Schmidt-Rubin K31 rifle. It has been used by the Swiss military since the early 20th century. While it was once a standard-issue military cartridge, it has since been replaced by more modern cartridges in military service.
