An original 1927 dated .303 British inert cartridge featuring the classic RL headstamp, identifying manufacture by the famous Royal Laboratory, Woolwich Arsenal, London.
The Royal Laboratory (RL) at Woolwich Arsenal was one of Britain’s most important military ammunition manufacturing facilities and played a central role in the production and development of British service ammunition from the Victorian era through to the 20th century.
The .303 British cartridge served as the standard rifle and machine gun calibre of British and Commonwealth forces for decades, used extensively in legendary firearms such as the Lee-Enfield rifle, Bren gun, and Vickers machine gun.
Dated 1927, this cartridge originates from the important interwar period between the First and Second World Wars, representing continued British military preparedness and reserve ammunition production during the years leading up to WW2.
