Original Italian 10.35×47mmR Vetterli military cartridge, manufactured in 1889 for use with the Italian Vetterli M1870/87 service rifle.
The clearly struck “C.R. / C-89” headstamp identifies this example with production at the Stabilimento Pirotecnico dell'Esercito di Capua, the Italian Army ammunition establishment at Capua.
The C-89 marking denotes Capua manufacture in 1889, making this an attractive 19th-century Italian military ammunition collectible dating from the Vetterli era.
This example retains its brass case and jacketed round-nose projectile, with an excellent, clearly legible headstamp and attractive age-related patina.
