Product Description
An original Canadian WWII .303 British Mk VIIz Tracer inert cartridge manufactured in 1945 by Defence Industries Ltd. (DI) at Brownsburg, Quebec.
During the Second World War, Defence Industries Ltd. was one of Canada's principal ammunition manufacturers, producing vast quantities of .303 British ammunition for British, Canadian and Commonwealth forces. Tracer ammunition played an important role in combat by allowing machine-gunners and riflemen to observe the trajectory of their fire, assist with target indication and improve fire control during both daylight and night operations.
This example bears the desirable DI 45 Z headstamp, identifying manufacture in 1945, with the "Z" suffix denoting the use of nitrocellulose (single-base) propellant in place of traditional cordite. The projectile features the distinctive red-painted tip, identifying it as a tracer loading.
The cartridge has been professionally rendered completely inert and is supplied for display and collecting purposes only. It is an excellent addition to any collection of Canadian, Commonwealth or WWII .303 British ammunition.
