Collection: British Long Service Good Conduct Medal
The British Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (LSGC) is a military decoration awarded to members of the British Armed Forces who have completed a specified period of service with good conduct. The medal was first established in 1830, and it is still awarded today.
To be eligible for the LSGC Medal, a member of the British Armed Forces must have completed at least 15 years of reckonable service (or 18 years in the case of the Royal Navy), with a record of good conduct. The medal is awarded to all ranks of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Air Force, and members of the Reserve Forces.
The LSGC Medal features the reigning monarch on the obverse, while the reverse bears the words "For Long Service and Good Conduct". Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters "LSGC" after their name.
The medal has undergone several changes over the years, with different designs and criteria for eligibility. In addition to the standard LSGC Medal, there are also versions of the medal for specific branches of the Armed Forces, such as the Royal Navy LSGC Medal and the Army LSGC Medal.
