Product Description

An unfired Second World War US 75mm M18 tank shell, dated 1943  B.Co.

This original WWII U.S. Army 75mm M5A1 Type 1 brass shell case, manufactured by B.B. Co. (Bridgeport Brass Company) and dated 1943, is an excellent example of American wartime ordnance production. The 75mm M5A1 cartridge case was used with U.S. artillery pieces and tank-mounted guns, including those fitted to vehicles such as the M3 Lee/Grant and early Sherman variants, as well as certain towed artillery applications. Produced at the height of the war, Bridgeport Brass was one of the primary U.S. contractors supplying high-quality ammunition components to Allied forces.

This example remains in excellent condition, retaining strong, clear headstamps with well-defined markings that clearly display the calibre, manufacturer, and wartime date. The brass shows an attractive, even patina with no major dents, cracks, or structural issues, making it highly desirable for both collectors and display. Deactivated and inert, it is suitable for private collections, museums, or militaria displays. A substantial and visually impressive piece, this shell case represents the industrial scale and precision of U.S. wartime manufacturing and is an outstanding collectible for WWII ordnance and artillery enthusiasts.
