This original WWII-era German 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge carries the P S S • 1937 headstamp, indicating manufacture by P – Polte Armaturen-u. Maschinenfabrik A.G., Werk Magdeburg, Sachsen, one of Germany’s largest and most significant ammunition producers of the period. Made in 1937, it represents early-war ammunition issued for the Kar98k rifle and MG34 machine gun. The “S” and “S” markings denote standard S-type spitzer-bullet components. With its clear pre-war date, early Heereswaffenamt production, and well-documented manufacturer, this round is a highly desirable collectible for enthusiasts of German ordnance and Mauser rifle history.
