Product Description

An original inert German 7.92×57mm Mauser rifle cartridge manufactured in 1944 during the final stages of the Second World War.

The eba factory code identifies Metallwarenfabrik Scharfenberg & Teubert GmbH, located at Breitungen-Werra, Thuringia, Germany. The factory was one of several German manufacturers producing 7.92×57mm ammunition for the Wehrmacht under the wartime three-letter factory code system introduced from 1940 onwards.

Headstamp Details

  • Manufacturer Code: eba
  • Manufacturer: Metallwarenfabrik Scharfenberg & Teubert GmbH
  • Factory Location: Breitungen-Werra, Thuringia, Germany
  • Date: 1944
  • Case Type: St (steel case)
  • Lot Number: 45

By 1944, almost all German service ammunition was produced using steel cartridge cases, identified by the St marking. Steel cases reduced Germany's dependence on copper and brass, both of which had become strategic wartime materials.

This cartridge would have been issued for use in standard German 7.92×57mm weapons, including:

  • Karabiner 98k
  • Gewehr 98
  • Gewehr 43
  • MG34
  • MG42
  • FG42

An excellent original late-war example featuring a desirable manufacturer code from a recognised German wartime ammunition factory.
