Product Description
An original inert German 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge bearing the bla S 11 1943 headstamp. This is a genuine Second World War military cartridge manufactured for the Wehrmacht during 1943.
The bla manufacturer code identifies Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen GmbH, Werk Selterhof, one of Germany's major wartime producers of 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge cases. During the war, German factories used three-letter manufacturer codes to conceal the identity and location of military contractors supplying the armed forces.
Headstamp Breakdown
- bla – Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen GmbH, Werk Selterhof
- S – Brass cartridge case
- 11 – Production Lot 11
- 1943 – Year of manufacture
Unlike the more common St (steel) or St+ (improved steel) cases found on many 1943-dated cartridges, this example retains a brass case, making it a desirable wartime variation. German 7.92×57mm headstamps record four key pieces of information: manufacturer code, case material, production lot and year of manufacture.
This cartridge would have been issued for use in Germany's principal 7.92×57mm service weapons, including:
- Karabiner 98k (K98k)
- Gewehr 98
- MG34
- MG42
- Other German weapons chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge
An excellent original example of wartime German ammunition, ideal for collectors of Wehrmacht militaria, Mauser rifles and military headstamps.
