Product Description
Original inert German WWII 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge bearing the headstamp P490 xxwI 40.
Manufactured in 1940 by Polte Armaturen- und Maschinenfabrik A.G., Magdeburg, one of Germany's principal wartime ammunition producers. The P490 code was assigned to Polte under the German military manufacturer's coding system used during the Second World War.
The xxwI case code denotes a brass cartridge case produced under the German wartime materials coding system, while the 40 indicates manufacture in 1940 during the early years of the war. An excellent original example of Wehrmacht small arms ammunition and a desirable addition to any collection of German militaria, inert ammunition, or headstamp variations.
This cartridge has been professionally rendered completely inert and is sold strictly as a collectable display item
