Product Description

The 1942 King George VI sixpence was a British coin issued during the reign of King George VI of the United Kingdom. The sixpence was a small silver coin that had a value of sixpence, or half a shilling.

On the obverse side of the coin, there is a right-facing portrait of King George VI, wearing a crown and surrounded by the inscription "GEORGIVS VI D G BR OMN REX F D IND IMP." This inscription translates to "George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."

The reverse side of the coin features a crowned shield with the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom. The shield is divided into four quarters, each representing different countries within the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Surrounding the shield is the denomination "SIXPENCE" and the year "1942."

The 1942 King George VI sixpence was minted in cupronickel, a composition of 50% copper and 50% nickel. It has a diameter of 19mm and weighs approximately 2.83 grams.
