This authentic inert .303 British cartridge features the K C IV headstamp, signifying manufacture by Kynoch & Co., one of Britain’s foremost ammunition manufacturers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The “K” denotes Kynoch production, while “C IV” indicates the Cartridge Mark IV specification—an early black powder service loading developed during the formative years of the .303 British caliber.
The Mark IV cartridge represents an important stage in British small-arms ammunition development, issued during the Lee-Metford rifle era prior to the full adoption of cordite propellant. Cartridges from this transitional period are increasingly sought after due to their association with late Victorian military service and early imperial campaigns.
