The distinctive Mannlicher en-bloc system was inserted complete into the rifle's magazine, with the empty clip dropping through the bottom of the action after the final cartridge was chambered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf particular interest is the period German eagle marking visible on the cartridge headstamp, associated with Austrian ammunition production following the German annexation of Austria in 1938. The steel clip also carries an eagle manufacturer's\/inspection marking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe five cartridges have brass cases with distinctive silver-coloured pointed projectiles and display very well in the original blackened steel clip.
