Its small egg-shaped pressed-steel body made it considerably more compact than the familiar German stick grenade. The M39 used a friction-type igniter operated by unscrewing the fuze cap and pulling the attached cord. \u003cspan class=\"contents\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a particularly attractive original example retaining substantial age patina and surface oxidation. The characteristic raised\/castellated centre section of the grenade body remains clearly visible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe removable igniter assembly and its original-style twisted pull cord are present, as shown in the photographs.
